U.S. Postal Service’s new rates in effect
Washington, D.C.—The U.S. Postal Service’s rate changes that were announced last fall went into Jan. 18. They include rate hikes ranging from 3.9% for priority mail to 8.5% for some international shipping services.
Other price increases include: parcel select (5.9%), express mail (5.7%) and parcel return service (5.3%). Overall, shipping services prices will increase an average of 5%.
New for this year is Commercial Plus pricing, for high-volume express mail and priority mail users. The USPS said Commercial Plus prices for express mail will average 14.5% less than retail prices, with priority mail averaging 7% below retail.
