Cher lobbying for stamp to honor Sonny

A Jan. 7 report in Variety.com stated that Academy-awarding winning performer Cher is lobbying the U.S. Postal Service for a commemorative stamp in honor of her late first husband, former Congressman Sonny Bono.

U.S. Rep. Mary Bono Mack, Bono’s fourth wife, first requested consideration for the stamp from the Citizens’ Stamp Advisory Committee in November 2007.

Jennifer May, communications director for Bono Mack, R-Palm Springs, said the congresswoman is pleased to have Cher’s support.
